Break Around: Brower Center

Climate Installation in Berkeley, CA

“Break Around” was designed for the Brower Environmental Center as part of the exhibition "Sea Change.”

Photographs of Neah Bay, WA encircle the base of the building and form a continuous breaking wave celebrating the beauty of the ocean with splash of tide, wind, foam and water.

The piece suggests ideas of sea-rise and with the rounded shape of the building, a ship at sea.

This temporary public piece, in a busy neighborhood near UC Berkeley, was made to be an engaging and uplifting pedestrian experience while raising awareness of ocean conservation.

Walking around the outside of the Brower Center to show the photographs of a breaking wave installed around the base of the building.

Engaging and uplifting, while raising awareness of sea-rise and the importance of ocean conservation
