Wellspring: St. Bart’s Church

Climate Installation in NYC

Wellspring was designed for St. Bart’s using photographs of the spectacular and geologically unusual California waterfall, Burney Falls.

A temporary 3 month installation of banners for the interior (22 x 2’) and exterior (32 x 2’) as part of the church environmental programing, Wellspring celebrated Earth Day and Easter.

Sacred to the Native tribes in the region and declared by Teddy Roosevelt the “Eighth Wonder of the World”, Burney Falls flows continuously, independent of rainfall, from ground water that seeps and pours out of the cliff face. The eternal nature of the falls is a pertinent image for the enduring love of god and the dependence of life, including ours, on water. The installation celebrates the beauty, movement and miracle of life giving water.
