Flowers of the Field

Photography Installation
St. John’s Church, NY

Created in loving memory of my mother, Miggie Bryan, and to commemorate loss from the pandemic, images of local wildflowers printed on vellum were fitted into the panes of 22 windows.

The printed vellum has a soft glowing look when light goes through, a bit like stained glass. The flowers connect to the needlepoint pillows in St. John’s created by women of the parish and reflect Miggie's love of native wildflowers. This installation honors her support for the community's efforts to bring back native plants, enriching the island's ecosystems and surrounding us with so much beauty!
